Hello Feisties!
School is in the air. Freshly sharpened pencils, unmarked notebooks, time to write. And for me, time to offer another edition of the Feisty "Freelance Writing Intensive" course designed to answer all burning questions about the freelance writing world in a safe environment. I thought I’d tell you about it here in case you know anyone (or ARE anyone) who is interested in joining this September.
Some questions we'll answer:
What goes into a pitch? How do I figure out the right editor to reach? How do I approach corporate clients? This overview answers all these questions, plus provides the opportunity to ask your own.
We'll meet on Zoom for weekly trainings and exercises (sessions recorded), you'll connect through a Slack community and your course includes three weeks followup support after we log off.
Course schedule (starting September 20, 2023):
CLASS 1. Introduction to freelancing / burning questions
CLASS 2. How to read like a writer + overview of the content/copywriting/journalism landscape
CLASS 3. How to pitch a magazine or corporate client: pitch structure and etiquette
CLASS 4. Business questions 101 – how to set up your freelance business and systems + plan your writing niche
CLASS 5. Mapping your story: outline and feature writing techniques + writing exercises
CLASS 6. Self editing and planning your way to your first assignment, plus navigating contracts and payment negotiation
Interested in being a part of it? Don’t hesitate to reach out to me with questions. Or browse the Feisty Freelancer website if you’d like to learn more. Take advantage of early bird pricing ($100 off) until the end of the month!
That’s all for this week! Back on my biweekly schedule, back to testing out Fridays as a publishing date for this newsletter. Stay tuned for the next one in which I’ll reflect on my process of gearing up for the fall as a freelancer. Until then, stay feisty!
Sue
